♪　さざんかさざんか咲いた道、焚火だ焚火だ落ち葉焚き　♪　で有名なサザンカは、
ツバキ科ツバキ属の常緑広葉樹で、漢字では山茶花と書くらしい。
椿と見分けにくいが、花がポロっと落ちるのが椿で、山茶花は花びらが散ると聞くし、
葉が少し小さい様にも思える。
蝶々も飛ばない寒い冬に、こんなにも可憐な花が咲き誇っている日本の冬は素晴らしい。

It is an evergreen broad-leaved tree belonging to the Camellia family, and it seems to be written as 山茶花 (mountain tea flower)in Chinese characters.
It's hard to distinguish from camellias, but I've heard that camellias have falling flowers, and sasanqua has falling petals but it looks like the leaves are little small.
In the cold winter when no butterflies, the winter in Japan is wonderful when such pretty flowers are in full bloom.
